Current Stadium Issues
The current stadium was built in the 1930s. The track hasn’t been resurfaced since the mid-1980s, and the field hasn’t been recrowned in over 25 years. The following are issues with the current field at the old high school:
- No locker rooms and showers
- Field is not regulation (too short)
- Distance from the high school – both teams currently have to be bussed
- No restrooms
- Can’t hold playoff games
- Track is unsafe
- Limited seating for home and visitor
- Field grade is inadequate
- Concrete walls deteriorating
- Goal posts need to be replaced
- Visitor bleachers not up to code (unsafe)
- Not ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible
- Lack of parking
- Band travels with instruments to home competition
- Fencing inadequate for field control and posts lift out (unsafe)
- Field maintenance equipment has to be transported to field
- Kicks retrieved by climbing a fence into neighbors yard
- Lights require upgrading
- Teams/officials have no shelter
- Powerlines should be buried
- No ticket booths to control cash flow
- Streets have to be closed
- No water in concessions for clean up
