Get your parade entries ready to show off your Pointer Pride! This year’s Homecoming Parade will be Thursday, October 1 at 6:15 pm. Anyone may enter a unit in the parade by signing up on this Google Form
(If you do not have a Google account, which is needed to sign up online, you should email Mr. Matt Nevers at matt.nevers@mp.k12.wi.us or call 608-987-0739 to register)
Entries should be in no later than Thursday, September 24 to allow enough time to distribute the parade line-up to all involved. The parade order will be made public on the parade day, as last-minute changes occur.
Floats may be pulled by car or truck; drivers must be at least 19 years old, and the driver must have a valid WI driver’s license with them while driving. A copy of the driver’s car insurance, and a photo of the driver’s valid license must be submitted with the registration, or your entry will not be allowed to participate. No three or four-wheelers will be allowed in the parade, and we ask that you refrain from throwing candy as it creates a hazardous situation for youngsters. Class floats can have up to eight students riding on the float and no one should ever jump on or off of a float once the parade is moving.
Once you receive the parade map, please check your assigned number to know where to park (there will be number signs along the streets). Line-up will happen between 5:30 and 6:00 pm along the streets near the Mineral Point Care Center. Mrs. Ashley Calderon-McHugh will check each entry in, and make sure you are parked where you should be.
At 6:15 pm, the parade will proceed down High Street. The theme this year is “Camp Pointer!” and Fennimore will be the opposing team. The Spirit Rally, and crowning of the King & Queen, will begin immediately following the parade at the football field. The Homecoming Football Game will be Friday, October 2 at 7:00 pm with the Dance Saturday, October 3 (Grand March 8:30 pm).
