Our storied #PointerNation Wrestling program places six on the podium at this year’s WIAA Individual State Tournament!
Congrats to all our Pointers for their fine showing at the Kohl Center in Madison.
– 2nd: Liam Carey 126# (lost 9-4 to Martez Sheard of La Crosse Aquinas). Liam placed 6th last year as a Freshman.
– 3rd: Trigg Riley 106# (won 11-8 in sudden victory over Dakota Kraft of Edgar)
– 5th: Dealya Collins 132# (won by pin in 4:51 over Lydia Hutter of Adams-Friendship). Dealya ends her high school career as a four-time podium finisher — placing 2nd as a Junior and Sophomore and 3rd as a Freshman.
– 5th: Jacob Dannenberg 165# (won 6-1 over Tristen Verbeten of Reedsville). Jacob placed 6th as a Sophomore last year.
– 6th: Memphis Burkhalter 113# (lost by pin in 4:32 to Caleb Hile of Cumberland). Memphis finished 4th as a Freshman last year.
– 6th: Emmett Collins 157# (lost 12-11 to Otto Anglemyer of Amherst).
Kudos, also, to Tatum James, Mason Scullion, and Sammy Springer for their fine showings at State — the future is bright!
