The Mineral Point High School Basketball Program is proud to celebrate its Charter Class of the MPHS Basketball Hall of Fame.
The induction took place Saturday, January 11th when the girls basketball team hosted Richland Center.
All five of these individuals have had a tremendous positive impact on Mineral Point Basketball during their careers and beyond.
Jim Bennett
Class of 1974
- Member of Class B WIAA State Runner-Up team 1974
- Wisconsin Press Association First Team All-State 1973-74
- Two time First Team All-Conference
- 782 career points
- 516 career rebounds
- Played college basketball at UW-Platteville
- Head MPHS Boys Basketball coach for nine years, coaching the Pointers to three conference titles and three WIAA Regional titles
- Jin led his team to the WIAA State Tournament in 1974 for the first time since 1935.
Karla Gribble
Class of 1997
- Two time SWAL Conference MVP
- Four time First Team All-Conference
- Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star
- Telegraph Herald Player of the Year 1997
- Dodgeville Chronicle Player of the Year 1996 & 1997
- 1570 career points (first place in school history)
- 650 career rebounds (second place in school history)
- Played college basketball at Lake Forest
Pat Murphy
Class of 1988
- Two time SWAL Conference MVP
- Three time First Team All-Conference
- Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star
- 1858 career points (first place in school history)
- 683 career rebounds (second place in school history)
- Three year captain
- Played college basketball at UW-Platteville
- Member of Division 3 National Champion UW-Platteville team 1991
- Coached Monroe Boys Basketball to one WIAA State title and one WIAA State runner-up
Dick Poad
Class of 1969
- Founded the Mineral Point Youth Basketball Program 1979
- Ran the Mineral Point Boys Youth Basketball Program for 20 years
- Wisconsin State Journal Ten Who Made a Difference 1997
- Ask anyone in Mineral Point and they will tell you the key to our basketball success is the program started by Dick that still continues to this day in his name.
