The eighth Mineral Point Basketball Hall of Fame Class has been selected.  The group includes four players, one coach, and one team. They will be inducted Saturday, January 23, 2027 when the Mineral Point Boys host the Johnson Creek Bluejays in an afternoon contest.  The Bluejays are coached by Tarek Oellerich, a member of the 2014-2015 Pointer State Runner-Up Boys team that will be inducted.  Here is a look at the inductees:

Blane Buckingham – Class of 1977: Blane earned 1st Team All-Conference honors in the Southern 8 as a Senior and was Honorable Mention as a Junior.  A three year letterman, Blane scored 719 points and pulled down 353 rebounds in 59 varsity games.  Blane would end his career as Mineral Point’s 5th leading scorer.

Brian Gallagher – Class of 1992: The 1991-1992 SWAL II MVP still ranks 1st in career 3 point percentage and 4th in single season 3 point percentage.  Brian was part of two SWAL II Conference Championship teams.  As a Senior, Brian scored 345 points including a career high 33 points in a 60-54 win over Lancaster.

Jill Schubert – Class of 1993: Jill was First Team All-Conference as a Junior and Senior.  She was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as a Sophomore.  During her three year varsity career, Jill led her team to two conference titles scoring 682 career points. During one season Jill pulled down 184 rebounds.

Kacy Sporle – Class of 2007: Kacy was a two-time First Team All-Conference performer, twice named to the the Wisconsin State Journal All-Area First Team and a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star.  Kacy scored 684 points and grabbed 261 career rebounds.  Kacy would go on to play college basketball at Edgewood College.  

Coach Mitch Wainwright: During his nine seasons as the Pointer Head Girls Basketball Coach, Mitch led the Pointers to two Conference titles, three Regional titles, one Sectional title, and the 2015-2016 Division 4 State title, the first State title in Mineral Point Girls Basketball history.  The 2017 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee has won three State titles and three State runner-ups during his coaching career.

2014-2015 Boys Division 4 State Runner-Up Team: This is only the second team to enter the Mineral Point Basketball Hall of Fame, joining the 1973-1974 State Runner-Up Boys team.  The 2014-2015 team set a then school record with 27 wins, going 27-1 on the season.  It was the first Mineral Point Basketball team to reach the State Tournament since 1974.  The 2014-2015 squad would finish as State Runner-Up, bringing home the silver ball. The team also won the SWAL Conference Championship with a 14-0 record.
