Mineral Point High School will induct new members into the Al Bauman Wrestling Hall of Fame Friday, December 19 during the match vs. Iowa-Grant/Highland. Congratulations to all!

Bobby Jon Bauman

Bobby Jon’s accomplishments include:

  • WIAA Sectional Champion 1985 & 1986

  • WIAA State Team Champion 1985 & 1986
  • Team Captain 1986

His high school record concluded at 81-16.

Bobby Jon coached junior high school football (Palmyra-Eagle), track (Fort Atkinson & Houston, TX), and wrestling (Edison Junior High & Milton High). Bobby established 18 Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddles across Ohio. In 2018, he founded the Sycamore Youth Center in Steubenville, OH, which now serves over 500 under privileged children each week with life skills training, free meals, and Bible classes.

Bobby Jon resides in Steubenville, OH with his wife, Pamela, and their ten children.

Steve and Rita Gevelinger

The Gevelinger family has been involved with Mineral Point Wrestling since the early stages of the program in the 1960s. Following his three older brothers, Steve began wrestling in 1972 and was a varsity wrestler for Mineral Point from 1975 to 1977.

Steve married Rita Keleher in 1983 and together they became avid supporters at all levels of the program. They are donors, fundraisers, organizers, volunteers, van drivers, and most importantly fans — all in support of the Mineral Point Wrestling Program.

Steve and Rita’s sons, Matthew and Jacob, started wrestling in the youth program in 1997. Matthew and Jacob went on to wrestle varsity for Mineral Point and were both on State Champion teams.

Steve served as Secretary of the Mineral Point Wrestling Club from 1999 to 2001, Vice President from 2001 to 2003, and President from 2003 to 2005. Steve and Rita have been active members and supporters of the Mineral Point Wrestling Program for over 40 years.

Cory Sokol

Cory’s accomplishments include:

  • Conference Champion 2003, 2004 & 2005
  • WIAA Regional Champion 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005
  • WIAA Sectional Champion 2002, 2003 & 2005
  • WIAA State 6th Place 2002
  • WIAA State 3rd Place 2005
  • WIAA State Individual Champion 2003
  • WIAA State Team Champion 2002 & 2003
  • Team Captain 2004 & 2005

His high school record concluded at 163-18.

Cory went on to be an Assistant Coach for Mineral Point High School Wrestling from 2015-2023, during which time the team claimed the WIAA State Team Championship in 2021.

Cory has also been the Pointer Varsity Golf Coach from 2010 to present. During his tenure, the team has claimed the WIAA Team State Championship in 2024 and was Team State Runner-Up in 2023.

Cory is the owner of Dodge-Point Country Club. He resides in Mineral Point with his wife, Alicia, and their two children. He has remained an active supporter of the Mineral Point Wrestling Program for over 20 years.
