Mineral Point High School will be well represented at the July 16 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game to be held at UW-Oshkosh.
Scott Pittz and Dylan MacGilvra will be on the field as players with Justin Leonard on the sidelines as an assistant coach.
The cause behind the game is much bigger than football, however.
Players and coaches are currently raising money to participate with all proceeds benefitting the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
Although the hospital is in Milwaukee, it treats many children with local ties.
Alea Reichling, age 4, was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmic hernia. She spent seven weeks in the NICU at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. “Thanks to all the doctors, nursing and other staff members. We are very thankful for the treatment we received,” said her mother, Whitney.
Jaden Cassidy, age 3, is followed by many specialists due to his stage two liver fibrosis and epilepsy. “We are thankful for such great resources,” said his mom, Jalissa.
Shirts to support the Pointers are available to order at this link with a deadline of May 2. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin: https://mpfb16.itemorder.com/sale?read_message=true
Because the trio has already reached its minimum fundraising goal required to participate, the shirt orders are encouraged as a way to benefit the cause and show Pointer pride at the same time.
In addition, donations are also being accepted online and can be made to benefit each person’s individual fundraising efforts:

Football players from across the state are nominated by their high school coaches to play in these prestigious annual North vs. South All-Star Charity Football Games. Each year, more than 400 players are nominated and 220 are chosen to take part.
Dylan and Scott would like to thank the MP Gridiron Club and their coaches beginning with Mud Dog football and ending with their high school coaches. Also, a big thanks to families, friends and student fans for all of the support they have given throughout the years! MP fans are the best!
