The Mineral Point High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America attended the State Leadership Conference held in Madison at the Alliant Energy Center on March 28-29, along with 2600 FBLA members from around the state. The two day conference had workshops and tours for members to attend to increase their business knowledge, as well as compete in their business events.
The following members who had placed 1st through 3rd in their events at the Regional Leadership Conference held in February advanced to compete at this State Leadership Conference: Mac Busser- Intro to Business Procedures; Bobby Allbright- Intro to Financial Math; the Broadcast Journalism team of Cole Ferrell, Haydn Marr, and Caleb Wersal; Abel Logue- Advertising, Griffin Albaugh- Business Calculations; Owen Ward- Securities and Investments; Hayden Bakken- Political Science; Kelsie Toay- Job Interview; Kendall Kilpatrick- Securities and Investments; the team of Jayda Sudmeier and Kennedy Smith- Hospitality and Event Management; Olivia Poad- Cybersecurity; and the team of Julianna Cool, Gracelyn Foster, and Willow Ward in Intro to Event Planning.
Congratulations to the FBLA Intro to Event Planning team of Julianna Cool, Willow Ward, and Gracelyn Foster who have earned a spot at the National Leadership Conference in Chicago in June with their 4th place win at State Leadership Conference!
Congratulations also go out to Griffin Albaugh who earned 5th place in Business Calculations and serves as an alternate for Nationals. Also placing in their events were Abel Logue 6th place in Advertising and Kelsie Toay 7th place in Job Interview. Way to go FBLA competitors!
In addition, several members of the Mineral Point Chapter competed in State Leadership Conference only events: Hope Wilson and Ella Fox- Community Service Project, and Madisyn Heim- Local Chapter Annual Business Report.
Matthew Goninen, Cooper Schaaf, and Merisa Paynter attended as member delegates for the FBLA Legacy Academy where students learned from professional motivational speaker, Patty Hendrickson, and interacted with Madison area business professionals, toured local businesses, and developed leadership skills.
Kelsie Toay earned Who’s Who in Local Chapter FBLA Awards for exemplifying leadership qualities and making outstanding contributions to our local chapter.
State Leadership Conference was a great learning experience for the Mineral Point FBLA members. Congratulations to all participants.
