The Mineral Point Kiwanis Club honored its May Students of the Month at its meeting Tuesday, May 5.
The students, who are members of the Senior class, are selected for this honor through a voting process by staff at the high school, and their biographies are written by themselves.
These are the final Students of the Month for the 2025-26 school year.
Brady Haas
Brady Haas is a Senior at Mineral Point High School and the youngest child of Alison Haas. He has one older brother, Haeden, who graduated in 2023 and is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. Brady was born in Warner Robins, Georgia and began his attendance in the Mineral Point Unified School District in 7th Grade.
As a military child who has moved from state to state his entire life, Brady has developed a remarkable ability to adapt to new environments and build lasting connections quickly. This resilient characteristic is the foundation of his success as a three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and golf. Whether he is on the gridiron, the mat, or the green, Brady is known for his grit, sportsmanship, and commitment to his teammates.
Beyond athletics, Brady excels in his technical pursuits and academic responsibilities. He is an active member of SkillsUSA, notably competing at the state level in the Teamworks category. A consistent honor roll student, Brady balances his rigorous schedule with a positive attitude that earns him the respect of both faculty, peers, and his mom. His leadership and work ethic make him a standout representative of the Mineral Point community.
Furthermore, in his free time, Brady enjoys hanging out with his family, hunting anything in season, fishing, playing video games, and of course as much golf as he can fit in the schedule.
Following graduation, Brady will continue his family’s legacy of service by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He is scheduled to depart in August to begin his career as enlisted Aircrew. With a clear vision for his future, Brady plans to dedicate himself to a career in the military, carrying the Pointer Spirit of hard work and excellence with him into his service.
Brady would like to congratulate Aly Jones on being selected as Student of the Month and to thank the members of Kiwanis for this opportunity as well as the luncheon.
“Although Brady came to Mineral Point a little later than Kindergarten, I’m happy to say I got the opportunity to get to know him a little bit. Brady was always a smiley and friendly kid. I appreciate the fact that he is willing to introduce himself and chat with me. As he became a high schooler, I had the chance to know him from wrestling and again, I was so pleased that he was willing to chat with me at events. Brady, it’s been a pleasure watching you grow into a fine young man. I hope you never lose that cheerful personality and keep the kindness flowing! Congratulations on becoming Student of the Month and best wishes in the future!” ~ Mrs. Jill McGuire, Kindergarten Teacher
“One of my favorite memories of Brady was watching him on our trip to Washington DC when he was entering high school. He was able to interact and engage with adults and truly experienced that trip differently than most of his peers. He has a level of respect for the people and veterans’ memorials that was amazing to witness. He has always been mature for his age and wise beyond his years. I have enjoyed continuing to see his growth throughout high school. His work ethic, morals, and honor will take him places. Congratulations, Brady!” ~ Mrs. Kari Kabat, Middle School Math Teacher
“Brady is a wonderful student to have in class! He brings a positive attitude each day, and is genuinely interested in learning about the world around him. Brady consistently asks follow-up questions in World Today class, wanting to know more about the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of global events. This curiosity will serve him well in the future! Best of luck next year, Brady!” ~ Mr. Jason Palzkill, High School Social Studies Teacher
“Congratulations on being selected as a Student of the Month, Brady! It has been a pleasure to watch you grow into a mature and kind young man. You have worked hard throughout high school, and I admire your commitment to your extracurricular activities. I am excited to see where the world takes you, as you have shown immense courage and patriotism by enlisting with the Marines. Enjoy the rest of your Senior year, and best of luck!” ~ Mrs. Erika Brunson, Middle/High School Counselor
“Congratulations on being chosen as a Kiwanis Student of the Month! It has been a pleasure to get to know you a little bit over the years. Your willingness to lend a helping hand, along with your curiosity and ability to engage in conversation with all, will take you far. Best of luck to you in all you do as you go on to serve our country.” ~ Mrs. Kris McCoy, Middle/High Librarian
“‘You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him’ – Malcolm Forbes. Brady will always stand out in my mind as a young man with a caring and kind disposition. He has an incredible ability to make whoever he is speaking to feel like the most important person in his day. Brady’s future is definitely bright due to his work ethic, dedication, and positive spirit. I can’t wait to see where the future takes you, Sweet Boy!” ~ Mrs. Kristin Staver, High School Media Teacher
“Brady is a throwback — a kid that doesn’t quit at the first sign of opposition, or knowing that he may have trouble cracking a line-up. He sticks with it and waits for his opportunity. Not many kids anymore have the strength and determination to do that. Brady did, and got his opportunity to wrestle varsity full time this year. That’s what a leader does. He didn’t complain, he didn’t quit, he decided he would help the others around him as a good teammate while working hard himself to become a varsity wrestler. That type of character is going to serve him well after high school, and I am not only excited to see it, but I will be a fan from afar for all his life.” ~ Mr. Curtis Fiedler, Middle School Special Education Teacher and Head Boys Wrestling Coach
