
The seventh Mineral Point Basketball Hall of Fame Class has been selected. The group of six played at Mineral Point from the 1930s through the 2010s. They will be inducted on Saturday, January 24, 2026 when the Pointer Girls Basketball Team hosts Beloit Turner in an afternoon contest. Here is a look at the inductees and their careers:
Ron Carey – Class of 1974: Ron was the point guard on the 1974 WIAA Class C State Runner-Up team. He was part of two WIAA Regional titles and one Conference title. Ron was one of only five players selected First Team All-Conference in 1974 and was Honorable Mention in 1973. A three-year varsity starter, Ron scored 742 points in his career.
Julie Graber – Class of 1977: Julie was the first Pointer to receive First Team All-Conference honors in girls basketball. Julie was First Team during her Junior year and Honorable Mention as a Senior. Julie went on to play at UW-River Falls where she earned the Falcon Team Spirit Award as a Senior.
Harry Ivey – Class of 1935: 1935 Wisconsin State Journal Class B All-State Second Team. Second leading scorer in the WIAA Class B State Tournament in 1935 with 33 points. Associated Press Class B Honorable Mention based on play in the State Tournament. In 1935, Harry led the Southwest Wisconsin League in scoring with 80 points, outdistancing teammate Art Mead who was second with 76 points. The third leading scorer in the league had 62 points. Harry helped to lead the Pointers to two straight Southwest Wisconsin League titles, two WIAA District titles and two straight WIAA State Tournament appearances.
Tom Ivey – Class of 1963: The son of Harry Ivey. Tom spent four years on varsity earning special mention All-Conference honors as a Junior and second team as a Senior. At the time, there were 16 teams in the league and only five players were selected to the first team. Tom was also Capital Times Honorable Mention in 1962. He averaged 15.5 points per game as a Senior.
Mike Murphy – Class of 1989: Mike remains the career leader in assists at Mineral Point with 461 assists. He is also third in career charges with 28. A four-year varsity player, Mike was First Team All-Conference as a Senior and Second Team as a Junior. He scored 583 points in his career, including 321 as a Senior, averaging 13.4 points per game. Mike helped to lead the Pointers to a Conference title and two WIAA Regional titles.
Rilee (Schmitz) Hammer – Class of 2010: Rilee was a two-time First Team All-Conference performer, Dodgeville Chronicle Co-Player of the Year, and a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star. In 67 games, Rilee scored 687 points, had 267 rebounds, 222 assists, and 180 steals. Rilee went on to play at UW-Platteville.
