Goninen Selected for Prestigious Boys Nation

Joelle Doye | Posted August 1, 2024
Hail to the Chief! Matthew Goninen has been selected as one of just two boys in the entire state to attend the prestigious Boys Nation program in July in Washington DC!
Boys Nation is an annual forum concerning civic training, government, leadership, and Americanism that is run by the American Legion. 100 Boys Nation Senators are chosen from a pool of over 20,000 Boys State participants, making it one of the most selective educational programs in the United States.
He is pictured here with Oscar Danz, his fellow Badger Nation qualifier, who is from School District of Maple, as well as Bill Kosh, the Director of Badger Boys State.
During Boys Nation in DC, Matthew had the opportunity to visit the United States Capitol, White House, Supreme Court, Pentagon, National Mall, Arlington National Cemetery, and Fort McHenry. He also had the opportunity to meet Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, meet Representatives Dusty Johnson and Bryan Style, and listen to Vice President Kamala Harris at NCAA Champions Day.
Congratulations, Matthew! #PointerNation is proud!
