Mineral Point is proud to announce Michael Keyes as its next Head Girls Basketball Coach.
From 2005-19, Keyes has been an AAU Head Boys/Girls Coach for various programs including Wisconsin Swing, Wisconsin Hoops Select, and Wisconsin Pride.
His high school varsity coaching experience consists of:
Highland Varsity Girls Basketball Coach from 2008-10 and a conference championship and regional runner-up.
Pecatonica Varsity Boys Basketball Coach from 2005-07 and a runner-up finish in conference and regional.
Monticello Varsity Girls Basketball Coach from 2001-05 and three consecutive regional championships.
He also volunteered his time as an assistant for both varsity boys and girls programs in Mineral Point, as well as youth programs, from 1997-2015.
His objective as a coach in #PointerNation? “To continue to maintain and grow upon the established success of the girls’ program. To help develop and teach each individual the game of basketball in order to improve their skills and to enhance team performance. To represent the community of Mineral Point with a continued sense of pride and work ethic that has been carried on for decades.”
Keyes succeeds Matt Austin who coached the Pointers during the 2018-19 season, leading them to SWAL Conference and WIAA Regional championships. Austin is the new principal at Mineral Point High School.
