MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL

February 13, 2019

Hello Middle and High School Families —

After consulting with Transportation Director Todd Schmitz regarding busing concerns from families with the new start time, we have had to make a slight change to our previously proposed schedule (see #1 on the list below).

The following changes will be in effect only for middle/high school students for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year:

  1. Beginning Monday, February 18, the school day will be extended by 10 minutes each day (5 minutes at the beginning and 5 minutes at the end). Middle/high school students should be in school by 7:55 am (instead of 8 am) and will be dismissed at 3:30 pm (instead of 3:25 pm), and on Wednesdays 2:05 pm (instead of 2 pm). For students who ride the bus, pick up and drop off times should not be impacted.
  2. Classes will be held for middle/high school students Friday, February 22. (This was formerly a Staff Professional Development Day.)
  3. Classes will be held for middle/high school students Friday, April 19 with early dismissal at 12:33 pm. (This was formerly a day off for Good Friday.)
  4. Classes will be held for middle/high school students Monday, June 3.
  5. Classes will be held for middle/high school students Tuesday, June 4.

Nothing changes with regard to the Senior graduation/last day schedule.

Wednesdays will still be early releases.

Spring Break remains the same for all 4k-12th grade students (March 25-29). Also, Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day) is still a day off for 4k-11th grade students.

Please note these changes only remedy our current instructional minute deficit for the middle/high school and may not account for any additional time lost that may be incurred yet this winter.

We understand these changes may cause inconveniences and we apologize. Keeping our students and staff safe as they travel to and from school is one of our most important responsibilities. We will continue to keep you posted should further changes develop that necessitate altering the middle/high schedule further.

Sincerely,

Mitch Wainwright

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

February 12, 2019

Hello Elementary Families —

Due to the recent inclement weather that has forced the cancellation of school for several days, the District is short on required instructional minutes for middle and high school students.

Different grade levels have different required instructional minutes as set by the State.

As of right now, elementary students are in compliance for their required instructional minutes. However, any further additional time lost that may be incurred yet this winter may change that.

Unlike the middle/high school, as of now, Elementary students:

  1. Will not have class Friday, February 22 (this is a Staff Professional Development Day).
  2. Will not have class Friday, April 19 (this is Good Friday).
  3. The school day will remain the same with students reporting by 8 am each day.
  4. The last day of classes for elementary students is scheduled for Friday, May 31.

For students who ride the bus, pick up and drop off times should not be impacted.

Wednesdays will still be early releases.

Spring Break remains the same for all 4k-12th grade students (March 25-29). Also, Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day) is still a day off for 4k-11th grade students.

Thank you for your understanding. Keeping our students and staff safe as they travel to and from school is one of our most important responsibilities. We will continue to keep you posted should further changes develop that necessitate altering the elementary schedule.

Sincerely,

Mitch Wainwright
