Pointer Seniors Clara Chambers and Carlie Qualley participated in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-Star Game Tuesday, June 14 in Wisconsin Dells.
Wisconsin’s top seniors compete annually in the WFSCA Senior All-Star Game. Nominated by their coaches and selected for their softball accomplishments throughout their high school careers, the seniors come to Wisconsin Dells on the Monday and Tuesday after the WIAA state tournament for the all-star event.
The seniors who are selected for this honor must raise money for the event, portions of which will be donated to Special Olympics.
Both Chambers and Qualley were members of the 2013 WIAA State Championship Team. In addition, they won a WIAA Regional Title in 2014.
This year’s banquet guest speaker was Diane Yager, a Mineral Point graduate. Yager coached softball at DC Everest from 1985-1989. She continued her coaching career at Seneca from 1991-2000. In 10 years at Seneca she compiled a 182-46 record and she has a career record of 209-89-1. Her team won a state championship in 2000 and had state runner-up finishes in 1992 and 1996. Yager also had additional state tournament appearances in 1991 and 1997. In her 15 year coaching tenure, Yager won eight conference championships with the first one in 1992 and then every year from 1994-2000. She received a Coca Cola National Teacher of Distinction Award in 2004 and is a member of the WFSCA Hall of Fame.
