Mineral Point High School sent a large contingent to the State Skills USA competition in Madison April 25 and 26 and emerged with a National Qualifying Entrepreneurship Team.
Representing Mineral Point were: Emma Baker, Danielle Blum, Madison Bowers, Abigail Callaway, Caden Carey, Curtis Cox, Addison Dailey, Brandon Dolphin, Nick DuBois, Paige Goodweiler, Grady Gorgen, Jake Gorgen, Caden Jackson, Kyle Juedes, Jordon Ludlum, Devon Manning, Amelia Mitchell, Amanda Murphy, Brady Palzkill, Dathan Paradis, Catarina Parks, Justice Perez, Danny Pittz, Bailey Riley, Grant Rose, Lucas Sanchez, Logan Schmitz, Lance Steffes, Amanda Torres, Harlie Voseberg, Jacob Wedig, Blake Wendhausen, Milo Wong, and Riley Workman.
“We competed in a wide variety of skills from CPR, job demonstration, woodworking, etc.” said advisor Kyle Carey. “I don’t have all of the results back yet but I know three of the four engineering teams placed in the top 10% out of nearly 150 teams. Emma Baker and Amanda Torres placed 2nd in pin design. We also had a 1st place finish from our Entrepreneurship Team consisting of Danielle Blum, Abi Callaway, Paige Goodweiler, and Cat Parks. These girls have an opportunity to represent Mineral Point at Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky.”
This was the 44th Skills USA WI State Conference. There were over 75 competitions, 1500 competitors, 300 Business and Industry Professionals, 200 advisors, 49 booth exhibitors, and hundreds of trophies and medals awarded.
