From a basketball official:
On Tuesday Craig Fenrick and I officiated the Cuba City @ Mineral Point boys basketball game. These are my observations from the evening.
When we arrived the game managers were friendly and happy to see us. All of our needs were well taken care of, The gym was near full capacity and everyone was there to enjoy the game. During the contest I never heard one negative comment from the stands, only cheers from the fans.
The players were there to play. They respected the game and everyone involved with it. The coaches were there to coach. They questioned some of our calls and respected our answers and judgement. At the end of the game each coached thanked us for a job well done.
Near the end of the contest the reserves took the floor. When # 30 for Mineral Point drained a 3 point shot, the gym went wild. I then saw # 10 form Cuba City make a point to go over and congratulate # 30 on his effort.
I think that I can speak for Craig in saying that Tuesday nights game was the reason I am a sports official. We truly enjoyed being able to be part of this contest!
Keep up the good work!
