The Mineral Point Kiwanis Club honored its December Students of the Month at its meeting Tuesday, December 2.
The students, who are members of the Senior class, are selected for this honor through a voting process by staff at the high school, and their biographies are written by themselves.

“Congratulations on becoming one of December’s Students of the Month, Macy! Some things never change – and in this case, that’s a good thing! Macy has been a sweet, kind, and studious gal since coming to Kindergarten! She has always been the kind of girl that peers look up to from the playhouse in Kindergarten to the volleyball court as a young adult. And, although sports are important and a huge part of her life, Macy also knows that academics and study are also an important part of success. Therefore, she continues to work hard in the classroom in addition to her extracurricular activities. Best wishes, Macy, as you choose your future goals! Have a great Senior year!” ~ Mrs. Jill McGuire, Kindergarten Teacher
“Macy has been a true joy to get to know through coaching. Her sense of humor and kind heart are just a part of what makes her so special. Love you, girl!” ~ Mrs. Amanda Ingwell, EC/4K Teacher & Assistant Volleyball Coach
“Macy is one of the kindest students at Mineral Point. She can be seen walking through the halls with a smile on her face that can change anyone’s mood. What a great example of what we want for all of our students, involved in a wide variety of clubs and sports, taking challenging courses, and maintaining a positive attitude no matter what lies ahead.” ~ Mr. Mitch Wainwright, Superintendent
“Macy is a little bubble of sunshine who brightens every room she walks into. She’s beautiful inside and out, always puts forth her best effort in class, and literally can get along with anyone she’s partnered with. Macy’s positive energy and great attitude make her a wonderful choice for Student of the Month. Congrats, Macy!” ~ Mrs. Valerie Martin, Middle/High School Business Teacher
“Macy has been the perfect example of kindness, compassion, and hard work. She shows up every day determined to get better, always willing to learn, and truly one of the most coachable athletes I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Her growth over the past few years—and everything she has poured into our team and program—has made a lasting impact. I know her skills and her character will take her so far in life. ‘Success is not just what you accomplish, but who you become along the way.’” ~ Mrs. Kari Kabat, Middle School Math Teacher and Head Volleyball Coach

Macy is remarkably reliable and organized, the person you can trust to know exactly what needs to be done without needing to be told. Her creativity adds spark to every project, and her steady leadership makes her an outstanding role model for those around her. With her positivity and natural sense of responsibility, Macy not only elevates the work—she elevates the people around her. I have thoroughly loved every second you have been part of Staverland. During his Senior year, he was also named captain of the football team, earning Academic All-State Team honors and numerous team awards from Mineral Point. Outside of school and sports, Keegan has been employed at A.B. Electric for the last two years. In his free time, Keegan enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, showing sheep at local and state fairs, and spending time with friends and family. Mr.Carey’s class has made an enormous difference, and Keegan is truly grateful for everything he has done. Finally, Keegan sincerely thanks Kiwanis for this recognition and for organizing and providing this lunch.
“Keegan Wenger has always had a stellar presence. Even at five years old, he was tall and had a quiet and serious aura about him. It made people take notice. Now, as he is growing to adulthood, I see the same seriousness about him. Although taking charge on the football field requires a bit more ‘noise,’ his presence is easily spotted. His pattern is the same in academic areas – quiet, serious, and always striving for scholastic achievement. Congratulations, Keegan! Good luck in your future endeavors! Enjoy your Senior year at MPHS!” ~ Mrs. Jill McGuire, Kindergarten Teacher
“Keegan did an incredible job on building the two new trophy cases in the high school. Watching him lead a group of other students was wonderful to see, and it is always wonderful to see the work of our students live on for a long time. What a nice legacy to leave for other students to follow!” ~ Mr. Mitch Wainwright, Superintendent
“Keegan is one of the kindest and most hard-working young men I’ve had the privilege to know. He’s always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it, and his work ethic—along with his impressive skills in building and electrical work—set him apart. His character, determination, and willingness to help others will continue to carry him far in life. ‘The best way to predict your future is to create it.’” ~ Mrs. Kari Kabat, Middle School Math Teacher
“Keegan is an exceptional young man and a remarkable role model. His leadership in sports and academics are noticed by many. On a more personal note, Keegan’s passion for the show sheep industry has truly inspired our family. Despite his busy schedule, Keegan has generously taken the time to teach our three boys everything they need to know about showing lambs. His patience, kindness, and willingness to help are second to none. We wish Keegan a wonderful and successful senior year and will continue cheering him on every step of the way.” ~ Mrs. Livia Doyle, 4th Grade Teacher
“Keegan Wenger is a hard-working student whose steady, calming presence makes a meaningful impact throughout our school. He is someone who always steps up without being asked, leading quietly through his actions and consistently setting a positive example for others. A wonderful role model for our youth. Congratulations on Student of the Month, Keegan.” ~ Mrs. Valerie Martin, Middle/High School Business Teacher
“‘An old soul isn’t defined by age, but by the wisdom and kindness they carry into the world.’ Keegan Wenger is a true reflection of that sentiment. Incredibly responsible and consistently thoughtful, he approaches every task with a maturity well beyond his years. Keegan is caring in all the ways that matter—constantly aware of others’ needs and the first to step forward when someone could use a helping hand. He is the perfect example of an individual who volunteers willingly, driven by a genuine desire to make things better rather than waiting to be voluntold. His reliability and quiet strength make him an invaluable presence in any setting. I dread not having my personal handyman when you are gone next year, Keegan. You have contributed so much to Pointer Council, Pointer Media, as well as every prom and homecoming through your exceptional handyman skills. I wish you all the best – you truly deserve it!” ~ Mrs. Kristin Staver, High School Media Teacher
“Keegan, it has been wonderful to watch you grow into such an incredible young man. You tackle everything with a strong work ethic and genuinely care about everyone around you, always being the first one to volunteer and help anyone who needs it. I admire your positive attitude and being a friend to everyone. You brighten up the whole school. I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the great things your future holds!” ~ Mrs. Morgan Burris, District Special Education Teacher
“Keegan, congratulations on being selected as the December Student of the Month! I couldn’t think of a student more deserving of this recognition. Words like dependable, respectful, and positive immediately come to mind when describing you. You have been a strong leader within your class and an outstanding role model for younger students. We also truly appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship you put into school projects — including your work on building the trophy case — which has made a lasting impact on our school community. Your work ethic, character, and positive attitude will undoubtedly take you far in life. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.” ~ Mr. Matt Austin, High School Principal
“Congratulations, Keegan, on being selected as a December Student of the Month! You lead with integrity and set the standard for others through your actions. Your talent in the trades is impressive, and we can always count on you to complete every project with precision and pride. Two examples that truly stand out are the electrical work you completed this summer in our new science labs through your Youth Apprenticeship with AB Electric, and the leadership you showed while guiding your peers in constructing the trophy cases in the commons. While you’ve contributed in many ways, these two projects made a lasting impact on our school. You show up, you work hard, and you lead in a way that truly matters. Enjoy your Senior year, Keegan!” ~ Mrs. Erika Brunson, Middle/High School Counselor
