Another strength of Mineral Point students is a consistently strong showing in the Delta Kappa Gamma Literary Competition and this year was no exception.
For the 2018 Mu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Literary Competition, the Literary Committee members had 114 top book submissions to look through from area schools.
The following students from Mineral Point received Mu Chapter awards:
3rd Grade
Faye Schuette, 1st place illustration and literary for “The Noise”
Josie Dunn, 2nd place literary for “Panda Problem”
Lilly Houtakker, 2nd place illustration for “Home Sweet Home”
4th Grade
Kalea Biddick, 2nd place literary for “The Deserted”
Ella Wilson, 2nd place illustration for “A Small Dragon Tale”
5th Grade
Gavin Houtakker, 1st place illustration and 2nd place literary for “An Adventure in the Arctic”
Claire Steffes, 3rd place literary for “The Life of Sophie”
Jadyn Swinehart, Honorable mention illustration for “Thunder”
6th Grade
Regan Schuette, 1st place literary and illustration for “That Strange Day in September”
The following students have received an invitation to attend the Mu Chapter Literary Banquet May 7, which encompasses students from Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette counties. Their books were among the top books submitted for the State Sigma competition: Faye Schuette, Ella Wilson, Gavin Houtakker, and Regan Schuette.
