By the end of the year, students will be able to read and comprehend literature [informational texts] at the high end of the grades 2–3 text complexity band. Students will write: opinion pieces on topics or texts supporting a point of view with reasons, informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas clearly, and narratives to develop real or imagined experiences. Students write routinely over extended time frames and shorter time frames for a range of purposes, and audiences. In mathematics students focus on developing understanding of multiplication and division within 100; develop understanding of fractions, developing understanding of rectangular arrays and of area; and analyze two-dimensional shapes.
