Monday night’s regular monthly School Board meeting included the Board’s annual organization meeting.

— First, the Board recognized many accomplishments, including the following:

— The Board voted unanimously in favor of the following officers for the 2024-25 school year: Aaron Dunn (President), Joni Heisner (Vice President), Will Harris (Clerk), and Justin Skelding (Treasurer). (Go to the 20 minute mark for the start of the annual organizational business)

— The Board unanimously appointed Angie Schubert, District Administrative Assistant, as School Board Secretary.

— The Board approved the following regular meeting schedule for the 2024-25 school year. The Board meets the second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm (December meeting will be at 5:00 pm to accommodate Middle/High School Winter Concert).

The District recommends the following Mondays for board meetings in 2024-25: June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, October 28 (certify levy), November 11, December 9, January 13, February 10, March 10, April 14, April 28 (Oath of Office/Organizational), May 12, June 9.

— The Board unanimously approved salaries as follows: $600 annually for Board members and $100 per meeting for the Secretary, not to exceed $2,000 annually.

— The Board approved the following committee assignments:

– Operations: Will Harris (chair), Aaron Dunn, Christie Johnston

– Policy: Christie Johnston (chair), Joni Heisner, Rachael Bergstrom

– Personnel: Justin Skelding (chair), Rachael Bergstrom, Will Harris

– Finance: Andy Busch (chair), Joni Heisner, Justin Skelding

— The Board appointed Joni Heisner as CESA 3 Delegate and Will Harris as WASB Delegate.

— The Board unanimously approved awarding the Transportation Contract to First Student, our current provider. Four bids were solicited and two companies responded.

— The Board unanimously approved the 2024-25 school year open enrollment students in and out as recommended by administration. An additional 30 students have applied for open enrollment into the Mineral Point Unified School District for next school year. It was recommended to deny four of the applications due to classes being full for the services these students would need.

— The Board unanimously approved the budget amendments as presented — dollar amounts haven’t changed, but need to be more clearly specified as to which account the money is being spent out of. (Go to the one hour, 59 minute mark)

— The Board unanimously approved the staffing levels for Summer Kids Club at one Director and three Assistants. (Go to the two hour, two minute mark)

— The Board unanimously approved the following hires for the 2024-25 school year: Maddy Chapman (Elementary Special Education Teacher), Amanda Ingwell (EC/4K Teacher), Merrill Brunson (6th Grade Teacher), Anthony Zilliox (Middle/High School English Teacher), and Tasha Miller (Middle School Reading Interventionist).

— The new MPHS Earth Wise Club presented an overview of what the group has been up to in its first year. (Go to the 50 minute mark)

— The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team presented their spring report from staff. (Go to the 56 minute, 30 second mark)

— The Board held a First Reading and review of policies:
