The Mineral Point School Board held its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

— The Board began the meeting by honoring the following accomplishments:

  • Middle School State Cross Country
  • High School State Cross Country
  • All-State Cross Country
  • Academic All-State Football
  • State FBLA Executive Council
  • SWTC Bronze Dual Credit Award

— The Board unanimously approved the consent agenda, including the credit card statement and bills payable. (Go to the 11 minute, 30 second mark)

— The Board discussed registration for the State Education Convention in January in Milwaukee. (Go to the 31 minute mark)

— The Board heard details regarding the timeline for the upcoming School Board election. 

The election will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 for three available seats on the Mineral Point School Board. The term of office for these school board members is three years and begins Monday, April 22, 2024.

Incumbents with terms expiring include Rachael Bergstrom, Aaron Dunn, and Justin Skelding.  

Notice of Non Candidacy for incumbents must be filed no later than Friday, December 22, 2023 at 5:00 pm in the District Office if they are not interested in seeking another term. 

For all interested candidates (including incumbents) who reside within the boundaries of the Mineral Point Unified School District, a Campaign Finance Registration Statement and a Declaration of Candidacy must be filed no later than 5:00 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the District Office located at 705 Ross Street.

If a primary is necessary, that will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024. (A primary would be necessary only if there were seven or more candidates seeking the three available seats.)

— The Board unanimously approved the resignation of Kim Kitelinger (Elementary Instructional Assistant). (Go to the one hour, 28 minute, 30 second mark)

— The Board unanimously approved the hiring of Maddy Chapman as Elementary Special Education Early Childhood/Primary Teacher. This is a 66.03 shared staff agreement with the Pecatonica School District to help with additional special education case numbers.

— The Board heard an update regarding the formation of an Human Resources Committee of staff members that will meet with the Board. (Go to the 39 minute mark)

— The Board heard a monthly update from building administrators. (Go to the 51 minute mark)

— The Board heard reports from the Finance, Operations, Personnel, and Policy Committees. (Go to the one hour, eight minute mark)

— The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is set for Monday, December 11 at 5 pm. Please note the earlier start time due to the middle/high school concert at 7 pm.
