Every year there is some nervous energy when the new school year is about to begin.  For students it may be “Will my teacher like me?” “Will I like my teacher?” “Will my friends be in the same classes I am?”  For staff members there are just as many questions.  “Do I have all the supplies I need when my students come in?” “How quickly can I develop a relationship with my students?”

With all of the construction that has taken place at the elementary school, I am sure there are just as many questions.  The elementary staff has been working very hard to get their rooms ready for students.  The construction crews have told us that, while the building work will not be 100% complete, it will be ready for students and staff on Tuesday, September 7th. Contractually, Kraemer Brothers has until mid-late October to wrap everything up.

I can already imagine the excitement our students will feel walking into the building for the first time.  It does not look or feel the same.  The history and traditions will never go away, but there is a sense of belonging in the building.  You can no longer see the difference in the 1960s and 1990s portions of the structure.  There is an even flow throughout the building that makes it feel as if it was completely new.  I have heard many positive statements by the staff members while they are working and I really think the students are going to love this new, modern learning space.

Once the building is completed, we will have an Open House to allow the community an opportunity to walk through and see for themselves how beautiful the elementary school is. Stay tuned to our various communications for when that date is finalized. We are very much looking forward to celebrating the completion of this project and thanking #PointerNation for its support!
