November 26 Special Meeting

– The Board voted 4-3 to not approve FEH Design as the architect for the elementary remodel/addition project. Voting in favor of FEH were Everett Lindsey, Tony Dahl, and Andy Busch. Voting against were Larry Steffes, Nate Chambers, Aaron Dunn, and Jeff Basting.

FEH Design has been the firm working with the District throughout the process leading up to referendum.

However, there was no written contract that FEH would be the firm moving forward if the referendum was successful, only a verbal agreement.

There was much discussion around whether the verbal agreement should be honored, or if the architect contract should be put out to bids.

The 4-3 vote gave direction to Interim Superintendent Mitch Wainwright to come back to the Board with language to be sent out for bid for an architect Request for Proposal. FEH would be welcome to bid on the project.

November 30 Special Meeting

– The Board voted 3-2 in favor of approving Request for Proposal language for an architect for the elementary remodel/addition. Voting in favor of the language were Chambers, Basting, and Dunn. Voting against were Lindsey and Dahl. Steffes and Busch were absent.

Lindsey and Dahl expressed their concerns with not honoring the verbal agreement with FEH Design. Dunn voted in favor of the RFP based off the comments he’s received that say due diligence is in order in making sure the district is being fiscally responsible with the architect’s fees.

Request for Proposals were then sent to area architectural firms Friday, November 30. Responses are due by December 17 at 3 pm. Interviews will be December 18 with the goal of having a firm selected December 20.
