Education for Homeless Children and Youth
Description: DPI identfies that the EHCY program’s major responsibility is to implement the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Homeless children and unaccompanied homeless youth must have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, and other services as provided to other children and youths to ensure that homeless children and youth have an opportunity to meet the same challenging State academic standards to which all students are held.
Questions could ask themselves to consider whether they are homeless: https://dpi.wi.gov/ sites/default/files/imce/ homeless/homeless_ identification_sample_ questions.pdf
